Do you know anyone who's had Acne Laser Treatment?

I'm considering either Microdermabrasion, or chemical peel or acne laser treatment...however I know little about all about them. Do you know anyone who had these treatments and did it work out for them?

I do suffer from acne and need help getting rid of those nasty scars.Do you know anyone who's had Acne Laser Treatment?
I've had both microdermabrasion and a course of glycolic peels - to be honest I wasn't impressed with the results of either. My skin was smoother following the treatments (as they both remove surface dead cells) but not for long and upon finishing the course my skin quickly returned to how it was previously.

I don't have severe acne at all but neither of these treatments seemed to unblock my pores and they didn't get rid of my spots.

I am now using a topical retin A treatment (also called isotrex or tretinoin) which I get on prescription. This treatment has worked very well for me and I would say I have had better results with it than I did with the chemical peel and microdermabrasion treatments.

Retin A creams/gels increase cell turnover (the rate you shed skin cells) and therefore they help to prevent your pores getting clogged and reduce acne breakouts (takes about a month to see a significant difference). They are also often used to improve skin appearance - the one I use can be used to treat melasma (uneven skin pigmentation) - it should also help to improve your scars (would take a few months) - maybe it's worth speaking to your GP or looking into it a little more?

You can of course have deeper chemical peels which will provide a much better result, but these are expensive, take a couple of weeks to recover from and can leave your face looking pinky/red for some time afterwards.

As for the laser treatment, I haven't tried it so am not too sure. Try to do as much research as you can or consult your GP and maybe get a referral to a dermatologist, as in my experience a lot of private skin clinics will recommend treatments, telling you what fantastic results you can expect when really this isn't true.

Good luck :)

Oh...and Kay...don't be afraid to go to your GP to get a treatment for the acne on your back and chest. This is such a common problem and can be so distressing for some people - your GP can prescribe something that will help - you said it's a month till the wedding - if you start something now you could see a significant improvement in a months time :)Do you know anyone who's had Acne Laser Treatment?
I personally don't know. But am VERY interested in the answer. and the cost. I get really bad chest and back acne. My face I've been able to control a bit better.

But I'm a bridesmaid and the weddings in a month. and my Back and Chest are horribleee! right now. And the dress is strapless. goodness.
I had IPL...laser hair removal and it also faded away areas of dark pigmentation....I think it would work great for acne and its scars.

My mum had a chemical peel on her face and it had fantastic results.

I do not know much at all about microdermabrasion...
My brother. His face turned purple and his face started sprouting plants made out of human tissue. he's much happier now. I'm kidding. read these links
