';Herbal LOGIX'; by Derma Research Labs works wonders - and also doesn't irritate sensitive skin (and also helps with scars). It's made with Willow Bark Exract, Vitamin K, Soy Isoflavones %26amp; Vitamins C %26amp; E. It doesn't overdry, which is important - if surface skin becomes dehydrated and dry it traps oil beneath it and exacerbates the problem. I used to find it at Walgreens, but recently actually ran across some at The Christmas Tree store. If you can't find it, it's distributed by Derma Research Labs, a Division of Advanced Research Laboratories, Costa Mesa, CA 92626. Another suggestion is a line called AVENE - a full skincare line for all types of skin. I have a severe disorder called RSD which causes horrific skin problems much worse than acne (lesions, thickening etc.) and is excruciatingly painful. Custom Rx blends which cost hundreds of dollars, Rx lidocaine creams - none helped. I found Avene hand cream (approx. $11) incredibly superior and their total line of skin care products unbelievably effective - and I'd had very sensitive skin long before RSD and wasted untold money trying other products. Avene is available in certain CVS pharmacies and certain Brooks Pharmacies, and also has a very very good website - AVENEUSA I believe, but a search for ';Avene'; should find it. They've an entire line for all kinds of skin, including acne prone - but the MOST important thing to use is their spray cans of their water from their spa (and no, water is not just water, believe me - I'd explain more, but keying is painful, so sorry). It's incredibly useful - regardless of the type of skin one has - and has incredibly good effects as an adjunct to any treatment. I wish I could write more, but just got out of the hospital and was on the phone all day w/same and instructed to go back to the Emergency Room (which....ooooooops.....I'm forgetting, I'm forgetting - lol), but keyboarding is excruciating now, so I'm sorry. But please? Do yourself and your pocketbook a favor and try the Avene line. ALWAYS spray your face/body with the water after cleansing and before using moisturizer - and YES, acne or no, you must use moisturizer. Acne arises from BENEATH the skin, and impropoper care of surface skin causes it to become worse - something most dermatologists fail to recognize - they treat the ';problem'; instead of the skin in total - and skin is the largest ';organ'; of the body. So do try Avene products - you can always return them for a refund as well, something one can't do with prescriptions which don't work. Best wishes.Whats the best acne treatment out there?
For decades it seems, there have always been a variety of treatments available to adolescents and adults attempting to treat recurring acne or a dermatalogical ailment.

The most Doctor prescribed treatment in market today is Accutane, however, it has been noted to have a high association with birth defects for pregnant women. In addition, there have been reports that it can increase the risk of teenage suicide.

For a while, the largest treatments of acne were anti-biotic treatments, but there have been numerous reports that oral treatments can increase the risk of breast cancer, respiratory infections, etc.

For women, certain oral contraceptive have a 'side-effect' of treating acne, as it generally helps balance hormone influx, which is a large contributor to acne.

Non-prescribed treatments can include deep pore cleaners such as peroxide (it attacks the excess oils on your skin) and some sort of sulphur ointments that will combat the bacteria growth. As another prescribed treatment, Retinol A also assists in speeding the clearing of the white/black heads.

ProActive Solution is currently the largest 'boutique' acne treatment that comes highly rated by many entertainment magazines and customer testimonials.

Unfortunately, there are frequent cases of such severe acne that lead to long-term scarring. Typically these patients require laser surger or other medical techniques such as 'raking'.

Above all, the best treatment stage initially is to speak with your doctor and have him/her refer you to a dermatologist. At that point, the specialist can decide if you case is severe enough to treat medically or whether over-the-counter topical treatments will suffice.

Whatever option you choose, buyer beware of any products you choose to place on your face. Certain moisturizers that work wonders for your hands may contain too many excess oils or compounds that will cause additional adverse reactions on your face.
