Used acne treatment, now I have dry/peeling/flaky skin?
I went to the doctor to ask about some acne treatment. She recommended ';PanOxyl Aquagel.'; It says in the pamphlet that you may experience redness and dry skin on the area that the ';gel'; is applied to. I used it once a day since last Tuesday. I noticed some redness and that my skin was dry but it didn't bother me. But by Thursday I noticed that my skin was peeling a bit where I had applied the gel (my cheeks). It didn't bother me, as it was only a small amount of peeling, so I continued using the gel.
Then, got up on Friday morning, looked in the mirror and there was dead/peeling/flaky skin all on my cheeks. It was as if I had been sunburnt and my skin was peeling. I stopped using the treatment. My dad recommended I put some baby lotion on the flaky skin to clear it up. I did so and it 'went away' (dunno where to) but it was only a quick fix. I've kept using the baby lotion but like I said, it's only a quick fix.

Hey man I'm 16 I dont know about you, but I just got rid of my pimples and I they suck bad. And I used ProActive, and that stuff burnt my skin so bad, where my doctor said it was close to a 3rd degree burn. It was the Benooxide that dried me up so bad. But now I take some pills I got from my doctor, no pimples. Don't take the cream stuff, you have sensitive skin just like me. For the peeling, you just haft to wait awhile. My son used a prescribed medicine for his acne and the same thing happened. It's just one of those side effects you have to put up with; what's better for you, the acne or dry skin?
Another thing to beware of is sunlight. Even in the winter, be sure to ALWAYS use a sunscreen before going outdoors. Also, the sunscreen will moisten the dry areas, so it has a dual benefit. Good Luck to you...
